The balls are rolling as the 6th Blackthorn British Skittles Championship gets under way to find the best skittle team in Britain. A whopping 164 teams including 62 new teams are hoping to take a share of the £5,750 prize money up for grabs. The winning team in the Men's event will receive £1,650, Mixed event £1,200 and Ladies event £1,000 all sponsored by Blackthorn Cider with runners up receiving cash prizes and Blackthorn goodies
The last 16 teams of each of the 3 events (Men¹s, Ladies and Mixed) compete in the Grand Finals, which will be staged at Sand Bay Leisure Resort, Weston-Super-Mare on Saturday 19th September 2009. All 48 teams who reach the Grand Finals will receive priority bookings in great accommodation sponsored by Martyn Leisure for the Saturday night, limited to 8 persons per team, with cabaret entertainment and disco followed by Karaoke all at the speical rate of £11.50 per person. There are special rates for extra team members and supporters, plus the choice of making a weekend of it by staying Friday night with the option of entering the Singles and Pairs Tournament.
